This module was all about exploring and generating ideas in preparation for our final module. There were a number of workshops that we could sign up for to help us step out of our comfort zones. I signed up for the ceramics workshop as I've always been interested in making my own pottery. I work in a paint your own pottery studio and I wanted to have a go at making something of my own.
As much as this was a fun module, I still very much struggled with ideas and with things happening in my own life. Working, flat hunting, dealing with depression, feeling anxious over everything and slight heartbreak made working on this project difficult at times. I had a few tutorials but still couldn't find any strength to motivate myself and get a ton of work done. Having the ceramics workshop helped me get some pieces together and I enjoyed looking forward to seeing my progress week after week. Although I started with designing bunny items, I gradually moved onto my real passion: fashion and character design. I only made three tiles with fashion illustrations drawn on with ceramic pencils. I would've liked to have done more but bank holidays got in the way, so it's an idea I'd like to improve in the future maybe. I've had other ideas that includes designing clothing that uses pottery such as a dress made out of ceramic for example. I plan to try and get out of my artist block by drawing something everyday. Observing people, what they wear, their expressions etc and how I can make a nice sketchbook out of it.
For the next module, I'm going to focus more on fashion illustration. It would be nice to have big posters of my drawings and a look book for the final exhibition. Maybe the look book could be made out of ceramic and have my images transferred onto tile-esque pages? My plan is to find as much inspiration as possible. I love drawing clothes and I want to continue working on that.
