Why was I drawn to this workshop?
I work in a 'paint your own' pottery studio called Craftsea, situated in Mumbles. I often see other students from uni come in to paint (and we always recognise each other and say hello.)
I also get to paint new displays if there's time, which is really nice. Obviously I can't keep them since they're for the shop but it's still a great experience for me. Having the ceramics workshop helped me understand the process of making an item from scratch, certain glazes, waxes, tools, the throwing wheel etc...

Me and my boss, Louise - her own business !

Image transfer onto a tile

This was day 1 of the workshop. We were provided with some tiles and images already printed onto transfer paper.
1) Print image onto decal-transfer paper
2) Cut image and place into a bowl of water for 30 seconds
3) Carefully separate image from paper and place onto tile or any fully glazed and fired ceramic
4) Fire - Once it's out the kiln, the image should be fully transferred onto your ceramic
Day 2: Making Vessels

Becky and Gemma flattening their clay through the slab roller

My slab

Knife and paper for correct measurements and even cutting

Everyone else just kept it to one big slab but I cut mine in half to have two small items

Carved bunnies and stuck on bunny models around the pot

Sealed with star shaped stamp + 3 legged pot

Earrings I made which got lost...

Day 3: Underglaze painting

Day 4: Fired items

Initially I started off designing bunny items but my true passion is drawing clothes. I was thinking to myself 'what can I do that involves fashion? And then i thought why not draw on tiles with ceramic pencils?

Here's the results. Obviously they're not AMAZING but it's not a bad start?
